OSM | Beethoven' Ninth | The Inaugural Concert

AN UNFORGETTABLE ARTISTIC EXPERIENCE

See the world-famous Kent Nagano conduct Beethoven's Ninth—a symphony that changed the course of music history and thrilled listeners with its lofty aspirations. Past and present, the familiar and the new come together in this great musical celebration inaugurating the OSM's new home, a concert hall with exceptional acoustics.

The Orchestra, joined by a brilliant ensemble of international soloists and choristers, performs Beethoven's Ninth Symphony for the first time in the new hall. At the request of Maestro Nagano, four renowned Canadian writers also show, in their respective ways, the universal appeal of Schiller's poem “Ode to Joy.” Their literary creations are read by popular Canadian performers.

A celebration of fraternity, humanity and joy. Of beauty and the power of music. This unique televised concert is an unforgettable artistic experience, not to be missed.
