From its birth until it is cast aside, a rocking chair takes part in every aspect of a Québec family’s life, putting up good-naturedly with all of the many children’s whims. Broken, repaired, repainted, broken again, it ends up in a snow bank. But the city has its eye on country things. They’re building a museum of modern art. The rescued chair becomes the guard’s seat, and the star attraction for children visiting the museum with their parents. But when night comes, in the darkness of the museum, scenes from its past come to life to the stomping rhythm of a reel, and the good old days live again.
