Death of a Maple Tree

In Death of a Maple Tree, director Graeme Ross shows that pollution and acid rain may soon create one of the major ecological disasters of modern times : the extinction of the North American maple tree. If something is not done quickly, within the decade the maple tree and with it the maple syrup industry could disappear from eastern North America.

The selfishness of heavy industry, along with footdragging on the part of Canadian and American governments makes Ross Pessimistic. His bet is that soon wildlife will be forced to evacuate the continent's dying forests. His vision sees the trunk of dead trees transformed into factory chimneys exhaling black smoke.
