The submission period for the 2009 CBC Literary Awards is now over. Thank you for participating in such large numbers! The entire Awards team is currently working to process the hundreds of envelopes and electronic submissions we received. If you have provided us with a valid email address, you will receive confirmation of receipt as soon as possible.

Readers will then evaluate all texts, and a shortlist of finalists will be announced in the second week of February 2010.

Among these finalists, six will be named winners by a jury composed of well-known figures in the world of Canadian literature and culture. The names of these winners will be announced in March 2010 on CBC Radio One and Radio-Canada.

What are the awards?
The Awards are Canada’s only literary competition celebrating original, unpublished works in both official languages. There are three categories: short story, poetry, and creative non-fiction, with cash prizes totalling $60,000 courtesy of the Canada Council for the Arts, publication in Air Canada’s enRoute magazine, and visibility for the winners and their winning entries offered by CBC.
